New Housing Developments in the City Center of Guadalajara (Mexico): An Analysis from the Perspective of Collective and Sustainable Dwelling

New vertical housing developments in Guadalajara (Mexico) are reaching the city center as a response for redensification after many years of expansion urban area characterized by suburban, low density and fragmented pattern. This horizontal growth, dominated use automobile prevailing mode transport, has proven to be unsustainable not only from an environmental point view, but also social perspective where “human scale” been affected, same daily life its inhabitants. On other hand, proposals their very nature associated with concepts redensification, compact collective living; aim this article is analyze some new downtown order evaluate what extent buildings embody more sustainable, livable dwelling, discuss findings, successes failures thus able contribute conclusions open broader reflection about contemporary housing, redevelopment Latin America cities through sustainable dwelling.
